Abstract |
This is a report on a old male presented comatose after a falling down from the 4 meters high factory. He was found to have a left sided intracranial subdural hematoma(SDH) which was emergently evacuated. After regaining consciousness, he complained of the low back pain with radiating down the right leg on post traumatic 12th day. He had mild weakness in both low extremity but intact bladder and sphincter function. He was found to have a subdural hematoma extending from L2 to S1 on MRI examination.
The patient was observed with frequent neurologic examinations and gradually recovered.
MRI examination on post-traumatic 50th day revealed complete resolution of the spinal subdural hematoma.
The patient recovered completely and returned to work 8 weeks after the traumatic event.
Traumatic spinal subdural hematoma are rare clinical entity. Treatment must be individualized based on the neurologic condition of the patient. We report the successful conservative management of a lumbar spinal SDH. |
