Abstract

While meningiomas are among the most common tumors of the spinal canal, accounting for 25% of such neoplasms, spinal meningiomas located purely in the intramedullary space are extremely rare tumors. The worldwide literatures describe only a few cases of the intramedullary meningiomas of the spinal cord, and limited information on clinical features is available. The authors report a case of intramedullary meningioma in the thoracic cord, a rare clinical entity, discuss the clinical and surgical features, and review the cases that have been previously reported.
