| Abstract |
|
We report the case of a 59-year-old man with malignant schwannoma. He presented with back pain and pain radiating to both legs. He also complained of motor weakness, hypesthesia of the left leg, and a walking difficulty. Magnetic resonance(MR) images of the spine showed a enhanced mass in the left psoas muscle at the L4-L5 level. The tumor was removed by a retroperitoneal approach, and a histopathological examination of the specimen revealed it to be a malignant schwannoma. The patient also received the adjuvant postoperative radiation therapy. We report a case of primary spinal malignant schwannoma not associated with neurofibromatosis.
