Abstract |
Purely extradural spinal meningiomas are rare and may mimic metastatic neoplasms. The purpose of this study is to report a rare case of purely extradural spinal meningioma in a 45-year-old man with previous history of malignant disease and to discuss the potential pitfalls in differential diagnosis and the acceptable treatments of intraspinal extradural masses. MRI scan revealed well enhancing extradural spinal mass and compressed the spinal cord. The extradural mass was completely removed by posterior approach. The metastatic lesion was mistakenly suspected before surgery, but intraoperative and final histologic examination revealed a extradural meningioma. |
